European Shotgun Championships to be Hosted By Cyprus
Nicosia, Jul 3 - Cyprus will host the European Championships Shotgun on July 5-14, the last shooting-sport event before the 2008 Beijing Olympic Games.
A press release issued by the Cyprus Shooting Sport Federation says that a total of 400 athletes from 40 countries will compete in the Trap, Skeet and Double Trap disciplines. The Championships will take place at the Nicosia Olympic Shooting Range, which hosted the international Cyprus Grand Prix last March.
The national teams of Greece Italy and Finland have already arrived in Cyprus and began their encounter with the installations of the Olympic Shooting Range, while the rest of the teams are due to arrive by Sunday.
The opening ceremony of Championships, which are under the auspices of the Cyprus President Demetris Christofias, will be held next Sunday, while the President of the European Shooting Confederation President Unni Nicolaysen and the two ISSF Vice Presidents, Italy's Lucciano Rossi and Egypt's Medhat Wahdan will also attend the event.
