Cyprus’s Annual Wine Festival Begins Today
Limassol, Aug 21 – This year’s Wine Festival in Limassol is being held at the Municipal Gardens from August 29th to September 7th, and will welcome guests with its trademark, a huge “Vraka Man” with its motto, “Drink wine to be healthy,” towering over the entrance.
With each year, the Festival, launched in 1961, continues to grow in its selections of wine and traditional Cypriot foods attracting locals as well as foreign guests.
An official opening of the gates of the Wine Festival by the Minister of Commerce, Industry and Tourism, Mr. Antonis Paschalides will take place on August 29 at 8:00pm. Joining Mr. Paschalides will be the Mayor of Limassol and Chairman of the Wine Festival Organizing Committee, Mr. Andreas Christou.
Entertainment includes music by the Limassol Philharmonic Orchestra and an artistic show by the Limassol's Four Voice Men's Choir.
In addition to the wide selection of wines, entertainment and traditional foods, the Cyprus Tourism Organization has organized four free tours to the event including a guided tour of the Cyprus Wine Museum in Erimi. Escorted by CTO officers, the tours will be available on August 29, August 31, September 5 and September 7 with the air-conditioned buses leaving at 6:00pm and beginning their return at 11:00pm.
