2011-07-22 10:16:27

The National Council, top advisory body to the President on the Cyprus problem, has unanimously and unreservedly condemned the “unacceptable and provocative” statements by Turkish Prime Minister Recep Tayiip Erdogan during his recent illegal visit to Cyprus' Turkish occupied areas.

In a joint statement issued following the conclusion of today's National Council meeting, the Council noted that it "unanimously considers these statements to jeopardize the ongoing bicommunal dialogue which is now entering a phase of intensive negotiations.”

The aforementioned statement also relayed that Erdogan’s statements and behavior on the Cyprus issue has already been reported by President Christofias to the UN Secretary General, the five Permanent Members of the Security Council and the EU.
