2011-09-02 09:47:57

The Foreign Affairs Committee of the European Parliament approved a budget of four million euros yesterday in support of the work of the Committee on Missing Persons (CMP), as well as for the protection of cultural heritage in Cyprus’ Turkish occupied areas.

An amendment, which was also endorsed by German MEP Reimer Boege and the EP rapporteur on missing persons in Cyprus Simon Busuttil, was submitted by Cypriot MEP Ioannis Kasoulides with the aim of releasing a budget line of four million euros from the 2012 Community Budget.

The amendment will be reviewed again in the coming weeks by the competent EP Budgets Committee and will be part of the conciliation procedure between the European Parliament and European Council next November.
