Kyrenia Opera performs “Cyprus in the Heart of Europe” A concert of arias and songs from the Mediterranean celebrating the European Month of Culture at the Kennedy Center in the US Capital.

Lyric soprano Rebecca Davis, New York based Greek Cypriot baritone Constantinos Yiannoudes, and pianist David Holkeboer will perform classical and popular favorites by Rossini, Puccini, Verdi, Tosti, Theodorakis, Hatzidakis, Markopoulos, among others.

Lyric Soprano Rebecca Davis’s voice has been characterized as “powerful, majestic, captivating, elegant, and thrilling to the bone.” In her blossoming career, Rebecca has appeared in the roles of many heroines, including Donna Elvira, Violetta, Fiordiligi, Ilia, Poppea, Abigail Williams, Baby Doe, Cio Cio San, Mimi, Musetta, Micaela, Tatyana, the Countess, Tosca, and Magda. Ms. Davis has been ravely reviewed as “a visceral actress with insight and presence.” Rebecca has appeared with such companies as Chicago Opera Theater, the Sarasota Opera, the Kentucky Opera, Fresno Grand Opera, Dayton Opera, Opera San Jose, Festival Opera, Opera North, Music by the Lake, DuPage Opera Theatre, Opera Santa Barbara, Opera Idaho, and San Francisco Opera’s prestigious Merola Program.
Praised for “a fascinating combination of charm and menace”, “a creamy, noble sound”, baritone Constantinos Yiannoudes maintains an active performance schedule with an extensive repertoire in both opera and concert. As a leading baritone, the versatile performer has sung many operatic roles such as the title roles of Rigoletto, Macbeth, Don Giovanni and Il Barbiere di Siviglia, as well as Il Conte di Luna, Il Conte di Almaviva, Enrico, Escamillo, Ford, Germont, Marcello, Michele, Scarpia and Sharpless throughout the United States. As a concert soloist he has performed in venues such as Carnegie Hall, Avery Fisher Hall, and Alice Tully Hall. Yiannoudes was born in Limassol and raised in Kyrenia, Cyprus. He is the General Director of Kyrenia Opera, a non-profit organization dedicated to bringing the wealth of great vocal music and educational outreach to children and adults in both the United States and Cyprus.
Pianist David Holkeboer has worked with the Chamber Opera Theatre of New York, the American Music Theatre Festival in Philadelphia, the O’Neill Theatre Center in Connecticut, the Israel Vocal Arts Institute, the Florentine Opera in Milwaukee, and Opera Lirica in Orvieto, Italy.
