Annan's spokesman Fred Eckhard said that de Soto, who visited last week the Greek capital, will have a meeting in the next day or two with President Glafcos Clerides and after that he is planning to visit Turkey for the second time this month.|

''In the second half of the week de Soto will go to Turkey for a further round of consultations.'', Eckhard told the press, adding that after Turkey, de Soto ''will be back in New York toward the end of the week to report to the Secretary- General.''

UN Spokesman said that de Soto is in touch by telephone with Turkish Cypriot leader Rauf Denktash's aides in New York.

''Time is pressing, and a stock-taking is required at this time, so that the Secretary-General can take a decision on how he can assist in moving the process forward.'', Eckhard stressed.

He reiterated de Soto previous statements that ''there is no UN plan, no plan has been unfurled or unfolded.''

Eckhard said that Kieran Predergust deputy UN Secretary General has visited Denktash in the hospital, and that it was a ''private and social visit''.
