By Apostolis Zoupaniotis -- New York, Nov 8 (CNA) ? Turkish Cypriot leader Rauf Denktash's return to the Turkish occupied north of Cyprus will be delayed for another week since doctors decided here Friday not to remove both tubes draining his lungs, following open heart surgery last month.

During medical examinations Friday, doctors said they would remove the second tube next week.

Today's medical examinations were expected to give Denktash the go-ahead to return to Cyprus on November 12. It is expected his return will be delayed until the end of next week.|

Denktash, the Turkish Cypriot interlocutor in the UN-led direct talks, underwent open-heart surgery on October 7 at the Presbyterian University Clinic of Columbia in New York. On October 20 doctors performed "follow-up exploratory surgery", as it was announced, where they placed two tubes to drain fluid from his lungs.
