Brussels, Nov 26 (CNA) - Cyprus' accession negotiations with the European
Union are expected to be wrapped up by December 2, with the closing of the
two last chapters of the acquis communautaire that remain open, namely
Agriculture and Budget.
This was the conclusion of a meeting in Brussels between Cyprus' Chief Negotiator George Vassiliou and the Danish presidency of the EU and officials of the European Commission.
Vassiliou said that during the meeting Cyprus' substantive progress on the last two chapters of the acquis was noted.|
This enhances Cyprus' hopes to conclude accession negotiations by December 2, he said.
Cyprus opened accession negotiations with the EU in 1998.
